At Sun Country Industries, comprehensive systems are in place to handle each customer’s manufacturing requirements with an emphasis on the principles of lean focused factories using cellular concepts. Sun Country Industries uses UGS Unigraphics NX to design processes and program our CNC machining centers. Our manufacturing information ERP system allows real-time production control to track status throughout the manufacturing cycle to make certain that delivery commitments are fulfilled. Statistical Process Control and Process Control Logs ensure that product is produced within predetermined control limits.
Supply Chain Management, utilizing material requirements planning, procures raw materials, components and services to satisfy all manufacturing requirements. We maintain a controlled list of audited and approved suppliers who we use for all processes not performed internally. These are generally leading companies widely recognized in the aerospace industry for the services they perform for us.
Our highly experienced manufacturing teams use Six-Sigma and Lean Manufacturing techniques as well as state-of-the-art, high-speed machining technologies. We specialize in difficult-to-manufacture items made of parent materials that were castings, forgings, plate or bar stock. Sun Country Industries machines virtually all ferrous and non-ferrous materials and some composites. Examples include stainless steels, monel, titanium, inconel, waspalloy and other high nickel heat resistant aircraft alloys as well as aluminum and alloy steels. Tolerances are routinely held to .0005”.
Components are machined using precision Computer Numeric Coded (CNC) Machining Centers to produce close tolerance parts with complex configurations using the most advanced technology for high-speed machining. Sun Country Industries has extensive experience in large turning, milling, EDM and grinding for medium to large production runs. The company has invested in several 5-axis machining centers to allow for ultimate flexibility in cutting and designing. Sun Country Industries’ diverse capabilities include 5-axis milling in a 40-inch envelope, turning to a 72-inch diameter, and precise wire and sinker EDMs.
Sun Country Industries is constantly expanding and improving its technologies and capabilities with investments in new equipment and processes to reduce cycle time, manufacturing costs and ensure product conformity meeting delivery requirements.
Our state-of-the-art equipment includes more than 50 multi-axis machining centers:
Sun Country Industries manufactures components and sub-assemblies for the aerospace industry. Sun Country Industries also offers complete complex, high-level assemblies fulfilling integrator role requirements for customer product final assembly lines.
Total supply chain management is a critical competency for any company that provides sub-assemblies or integration services. Sun Country Industries has developed an authorized and controlled list of approved suppliers who are utilized for all processes that are not performed internally, a qualification process that includes on-site audits. Sun Country Industries uses material requirements planning software to control and monitor all aspects of the supply chain, from raw materials and component hardware through final outside processing.
Sun Country Industries has developed internal Non-Destructive Testing (NDT)/Flourescent Penetrant Inspection (FPI) capabilities for the following processes:
Sun Country Industries has developed aerospace industry standard bonding capabilities that it applies not only to the hardware it supplies to its customers, but also as a stand-alone service to other aerospace component manufacturers.
Sun Country Industries casts specialty two-part elastomers and adhesively bonds this material and Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) to different substrates. Sun Country Industries also bonds with epoxy film adhesives and performs RTV encapsulation of manufactured hardware, all with elevated temperature cure cycles.
Key features of our bonding capabilities include:
